Album Notes

The Winslow Family Band's debut self-titled album, known as the Color Album, was recorded throughout 2007 and 2008 at the Winslow House in Murfreesboro, TN. Members of Espaso and the GO show combined to record an experimental project attempting to explore the sonic qualities of colors. Each member pulled one of the seven colors from a hat and composed their song individually. After the songs were written, the seven-piece band came together to arrange the instruments and their players. The result is a progressive blend of genres that could almost be described as symphonic. Although eclectic, the combination of these seven songs sums up the creative efforts of each composer. The Color Album is music for people who love to listen. Please Enjoy. Players: Dave Benedict: Trumpet, Bass, Drums; Phil Buck: Bass, Keys; John Daniel: Drums, Saxophone, Keys; Chris Nicotera: Guitar, Pedal Steel, Didgeridoo; Matt Nigro: Percussion, Drum Kit; Tim Santos: Guitar, Bass, Keys; Kurt Whitehill: Bass, Guitar, Clarinet. Special Guests: Eric Bixler on Didgeridoo and Tuerto Willie on Percussion. Mixed by Chris Nicotera, Mastered by Joe Calabrese, Design by Leigh Bernstein Red by Tim Santos, Orange by Dave Benedict, Yellow by Kurt Whitehill, Green by Phillip Buck, Blue by Chris Nicotera, Indigo by Matt Nigro, Violet by John Daniel

each song is individually delightful as it journey's through the sounds of color. while the overall composition of the album harmonizes and transitions, the Winslow's succeed in positioning this album as highly receivable by fans from multiple genres, by injecting jazz, funk and rock into a new instrumental standard. no need to skip over tracks - all songs appeal to the senses in a uniquely fresh approach to refining experimental music.
