notes

Wishing Chair's second CD, Undisputed Country is an exciting blend of alternative attitude and traditional music.

Songwriting, ethereal harmonies, and a great band explore new territory mixing rock, Celtic, and contemporary folk with an Americana flavor.

The lyrics explore love and other everyday struggles with a clear eye, a touch of humor and a sweet vulnerability.

The CD features the songwriting of Kiya Heartwood ( formerly of Stealin Horses) and Miriam Davidson.Heartwood also provides all the acoustic guitar and slide as well as vocals. Davidson sings and plays accordion and guitar and hand percussion. It utilizes the additional talents of Kopana Terry( Stealin Horses) on drums, Sean Tartar on bass, Karen Jones ( Reel World String Band) on fiddle, Pete Poggione on lead guitar.

  • Very impressive disc !
    author: Amy

Basically, I discovered Wishing Chair by serendipity. I was searching the web for information on a different folk artist and came across the band. I purchased WC's latest disc "Underdog" because I liked what I heard on CDBaby and was so impressed that I absolutely had to get my hands on their earlier stuff. "Undisputed Country" gets 5 stars just for the songs "Soldier's Reel" and "Solitary Way" - they really get stuck in your head (and not in that annoying way). I have to admit that my expectations were low, as I usually find 2nd albums to be kind of "eh". This one, however, is a real gem! Glad to read that "Underdog" has sold out - always a good sign...
