Wishing Chair's eighth CD is proof that love, friendship and desire are enough to carry this musical partnership through the toughest of times. Named from the Japanese proverb, “Fall down seven times, stand up eight,” the music compiled here speaks to the complexities and challenges of life that we all face. From the very start of the sultry R&B tones of ‘Rainin,’ to the driving Irish flair of “Fiddlin On,” we know that Miriam and Kiya have gone back to their roots and the result is a gratifying blend of the rootsy yet hip, acoustic sound we have come to expect.

"...we think the title sums up the drive that keeps us making music together, just putting our heads down and moving forward. The past few years have brought lots of changes and we think the CD honors and reflects that. Musically, we’ve kept it mostly in-house and it sounds like what I hope is our signature sound, rootsy, driving, hip acoustic, soulful – that’s what we think of when we think of Wishing Chair."
