"Shauspiluden" is the first album from Wolgemut and features music from the 13th through 17th centuries. The songs and dances are played on a wide variety of bagpipes, shawms and percussion as well as quiet instruments such as harp, fiddle and flutes. This is the album which started it all!
Wolgemut (vol-ga-moot): an ancient germanic word which simply means “to be in a good mood”. It is also the name of a very unique musical minstrel's troupe which believes that the goal of every performance is to leave the audience in a good mood!
The Wolgemut sound is unique and is best described as "Historic World Music" Wolgemut takes historical and traditional melodies and adds a generous amount of new world verve. The end result is pure Renaissance Rock!

Excellent CD
author: Dick Seabrook
Wolgemut's first CD features Michael Gartner and his wonderful group with inspiring arrangements! I am especially interested in the loud-band instruments -- shawm, bagpipe and drums, however the stringed instruments are excellent as well. Several selections include german speech.

I wish they would play at Tex RenFest again!

The first year I went down to Plantersville for Tex RenFest was quite an experience. Sites, sounds, entertainment and food. One thing that stood out was Wolgemut. A great band playing original instruments that goes well with fireworks. I had to cd before but someone walked off with it. I bought the 5 Wolgemut cds on this site and am not at all disappointed with them. Great cd's.
