ABOUT THIS ALBUM


Album Notes
"Shauspiluden II" is the second album from Wolgemut and features music from the 13th through 17th centuries as well as some traditional and original material. The songs and dances are played on a wide variety of bagpipes, shawms and percussion as well as quiet instruments such as harp, fiddle and flutes. It is still one of our absolute favorites!

Wolgemut (vol-ga-moot): an ancient germanic word which simply means “to be in a good mood”. It is also the name of a very unique musical minstrel's troupe which believes that the goal of every performance is to leave the audience in a good mood!

The Wolgemut sound is unique and is best described as "Historic World Music" Wolgemut takes historical and traditional melodies and adds a generous amount of new world verve. The end result is as close as you can get to Renaissance Rock!

Fantastic take on very danceable early music : )
As a professional dancer/singer/actor who performs at many RenFaires and Celtic Festivals; I absolutely fell for this great cd! The music is very accessible, even if you aren't a regular early music fan. It will also appeal greatly to those who do English Country Dance and/or Contra Dance as well as Bellydancers. I will most certainly get the rest of their cds!

Has the energy of Wolgemut's live performances and an amazing selection of songs. Also has several tracks that are fantastic for high aerobic work outs too! Many of my friends fall in love with this CD even without previous exposure to this style of music. Buy it!
