Heartfelt music for passionate adults
author: Wayne Mackey
An inspired collection of music for passionate adults. Ellen's voice carries Sting's "When We Dance" to a whole new level. The lyrical gem of this strong collection is "I Fall Hard" - a heartfelt expression for romantics who never forget, in the same emotional vein as Rickie Lee Jones' "Company" or Randy Newman's "I Miss You". Decidedly upbeat, "Whatever Happens" and "Here to Stay" nicely balance the CD's darker songs.

Warm, sincere and passionate album!
author: Kim Loftis
On her debut album, Tried and True, New York based singer songwriter Ellen Woloshin presents ten beautifully rendered songs full of passion, sincerity and soul.
Ellen is not only a passionate performer, but she also possesses a wonderful voice, which is rich as honey, smooth as silk and exceedingly soulful.
The album opens with “Just So Good”, a sensual and romantic song sure to delight the listener. It includes lovely, understated backing vocals, and sparse yet elegant instrumentation which complements Ellen’s rich vocal.
“Here To Stay” is an upbeat optimistic song, with an irresistible chorus sure to have you singing along in no time. You can almost hear the smile in Ellen’s voice as she sings this song.
Woloshin’s cover of Sting’s “When We Dance” is extraordinary; a passionate plea for love and acceptance. Truly mesmerizing.
“Armed with a Broken Heart” is a mournful yet achingly lovely ballad, while “Tempted”, performed from this female perspective, is unique, and just as delightful as the original, and enhanced by Ellen’s lovely voice.
Ellen’s cover of George Harrison’s “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” is exceptional, and her delightful version of James Taylor’s “Something In the Way She Moves” is an album highlight.
In her self penned ballad “I Fall Hard”, Ellen performs a lovely and passionate duet with actor Mike McGlone. With a slight country tinge, and the lyric “I fall hard honey, and I hurt long”, this is a very fine, and very heart felt, piece of music.
“The Rise and Fall of The One You Love” is a catchy song about love found and love lost, and the closing track, “Whatever Happens”, is a positive, powerful and passion filled song perfect to end this wonderful album.
Ellen has said that this album consists of songs she loves to sing, and that is obvious in her moving delivery of every song. Well paced, full of terrific material, and a great show case for Ellen’s fabulous voice, this album is a real winner for any music lover. Buy it… you won’t regret it! Highly recommended!

I Fall Hard is my favorite cut, but Ellen's interpretations of
Something In The Way She Moves and While My Guitar Gently weeps
are inspired. And why have we never heard Whatever Happens before?
Perhaps the song was just waiting for this artist's rendition.
