Wonderful Johnson hails from Naples Florida. Tim McGeary started the band in 2003, after some sucessful song placements on major tv shows, (Smallville, One Tree Hill, Glory Days), to name a few. The music is described as Americana Pop Rock, it has many influences, from Eagles to Beatles, Tom Petty, Dylan. They are currently playing shows around the lower Eastern United States, Florida, Georgia,Texas. The CD was recorded ar Ardent Studios in Memphis , and produced by John Hampton( Gin Blossoms, Travis Tritt,) The CD is a group of acoustuic driven pop songs that an organic sound that has it roots from past days . Tim Mcgaery says we used 24 track tape to record this CD and stayed away from the protools, Tim states , "the natural compression and smooth texture that tape gives to a recording and the richness, sometimes gets lost with the newer technology". "Authentic Memphis" is a very impressive adult rock CD, with strong musicianship, including vocals, strong songwriting, and pro production. We were so impressed by this CD, we named Wonderful Johnson our October 2006 band of the month. All of the tracks that we reviewed were very good. We especially enjoy the hook-filled songwriting and harmony-filled vocals in "Connection" and "17 Years Down." When listenting to this CD, bands like The Smitherines and The Bodines, come to mind, as well as solo artists such as Tom Petty. If you enjoy adult rock, you've got to pick up a copy of "Authentic Memphis."

Wow! What a catchy album. Every song is fabulous. Reminds me of an early Tom Petty in terms of the guitar and rhythm. A must have CD!

Tom Petty fans, DON'T miss this! If Americana, Roots rock or Alt. Country perks up your ears, then this certainly will. With the naked, tangible core of griity, humbled, honest rock curling around unforgettable melodies and supported by beats that will make your body happy, Wonderful Johnson leaves no doubt on the origins of their moniker (the first half, that is). Having caught the attention of some important ears, WJ is undoubtedly on its way to staking out its own, artistic territory in a big way.
