Album Notes

"DAVID WOOD - The Early Year"? Yes - that's right. These 10 songs are the first 10 songs I recorded at Sound Hole Studio in Nashville. And, instead of just letting them sit and languish in "studio hell," I decided to put them onto this CD share them with those who, like me, still have a place in their heart for that "classic" country sound.

Two of my all time favorite singers were Hank Thompson ("Who Left The Door To Heaven Open," "Honky Tonk Girl" and "Yesterday's Girl") and Ernest Tubb ("Waltz Across Texas," "Sometimes I Do" and "Have You Ever Been Lonely"). I've also included the Waylon Jennings/Jessie Coulter classic "Storms Never Last" on here. And, I couldn't resist the temptation to include a Dean Martin song in this mix. So - here's a re-arranged version of "Memories Are Made Of This." (Sorry Dean for what I did to your arrangement.) And, with all of this, I still saved room for a couple new "classics" written by pals of mine. Lore Orion (formerly lead singer of Bandera) wrote "Cowboy Arms Hotel." And, finally, the duo I refer to as the Lennon/McCartney of Nashville, Alan Laney and Billy Graham contributed "Time Will Take Care Of You."

This CD will serve it's purpose if it puts a smile on your face, maybe brings back a memory or two by a familiar song from the past, or starts you toe to tappin'. If it does any of this, I will declare this CD a success.

Thank you for listening ..... DW
