Album Notes

Michael Roberts created Wooden Dinosaur while studying for a degree in folk music performance at the Music and Dance College of Mongolia. Living in a small room near Ulaan Baatar's dusty train station, he pieced together the first recordings by combining Mongolian instruments (morin huur and ikh huur) and American folk music. Analune, recorded in Southern Vermont during the winter of 2007, is a hermetic suite which juxtaposes instrumental and vocal music and builds on these roots. In these 13 tracks Wooden Dinosaur coaxes mysterious sounds out of rare instruments and growls and moans along with them.
