ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"My favorite duo since Thelma & Louise. They got chops, heart, and soul-stirring harmonies.” David Massengill

“Woody Guthrie meets Laura Nyro.” Mary Sue Twohy, Program Director at Sirius XM Radio Inc.

"Though Ina May Wool and Bev Grant are both contemporary folk veterans, they come from pretty different places musically - Ina May as a character-driven singer-songwriter and Bev as topical songwriter - which makes their collaboration as a duo all the more intriguing and satisfying."
JOHN PLATT, WFUV

Ina May Wool and Bev Grant have struck a rare metal vein with the blend of their voices and their songwriting. In addition to the feistiness they inject into songs about the battle between the sexes, there's the social awareness avenue exemplified by "Get The Frack Outta Here. With lines like "Natural gas, kiss my natural ass/Get the frack out of here (I'm glad they're on our side. They've been a team since the beginning of 2011. Richard Cuccaro, Alternate Root Magazine

“Together, Ina and Bev have a remarkable synergy. Their songs are sharp, funny, moving, always on target and the settings are musically gorgeous.” Jon Gordon

"Wool & Grant offer stunning results in self-titled album. Renowned singer-songwriters, Ina May Wool and Bev Grant have joined together as a duo with simply stunning results. David Malachowski, The Daily Freeman.

"you have a wonderfully rootsy, exuberant, and hook-filled sound." Peter Hay, TwinVision

More Than A Blend
Seasoned pros Ina May Wool and Bev Grant hook up to produce a self-titled effort sufficiently packed with smart lyrical and musical hooks to keep a CD firmly nested in the disc carriage for an extended period of time. Wool&Grant are vocally confident singers whose voices sometimes blend, but more often than not reveal individually stylistic timbres and phrasing; Wool, silky and seductive; Grant, forceful and bright. Lyrically, they mine the playing field of fond remembrance, fractured love, and social values with the right mix of earnestness and humor. Wool&Grant share songwriting credits yet include covers such as Hazel Dickens' A FEW OLD MEMORIES. Picking favorites is tough, but I find myself hitting the replay button often for JANIS and I REMEMBER LOVE. Tony Levin (bass) and Jerry Marotta (drums) sit in as session players on several tracks, thus helping to move everything along at the right pace. Don't pass on this gem.
