Album Notes

WY-ATT (def’n): This is ROCK Country!

WYATT is singer-songwriters & guitarist’s Daniel Fortier and Scott Patrick. Their songwriting is an earthy blues/rock-country hybrid melting together traces of the Americana tradition of artists like Tom Petty, Lucinda Williams, Steve Earle, Sheryl Crow, Lyle Lovett, Blue Rodeo & The Roadhammers. WYATT has also welcomed SCMA award winning bassist Shaun Dancey and Saskatoon's Aussie import Bray Hudson on drums to fill out the WYATT sonic team!

Wyatt is a recipient of Rawlco Radio’s 10K20 $10,000 recording award and was recently recognized as one of the top 50 rising stars from Saskatchewan by a jury consisting of Brad Johner, Jack Semple and Jay Semko (Northern Pikes).

WYATT has dedicated the last two years to refining their sound, crafting honest original songs (resulting in their latest offering-Hard Road) and enhancing their live show which has become one of WYATT’s intrinsic strengths.

The result is simple:

Wyatt’s music is their own; rooted in crafted songs, textured in tequila soaked guitar tones and the emotionally powerful vocals of Daniel and Scott. They are grounded by a solid, expressively unrelenting rhythm section provided by Shaun and Bray and the four together produce a powerhouse of chemistry that is undeniable. Whether performing as a duo or full band, Wyatt’s upbeat brand of bittersweet introspection and hook filled grooves are catching ears and moving feet.

HARD ROAD - REVIEW'S

Living Sky Magazine
April 2007 by Christine Lyon
"The album (Hard Road) is a sonically mature debut showcasing the versatility of Fortier and Patrick as songwriters, singers, and guitar players...Fortier and Patrick's approach to songwriting is a visceral one. You can touch, taste it, feel it. Their songs unfold by tapping into every one of your senses until you can't help but see it through the lens of your own experience."

"...they (WYATT) have the country rock sound, but at least they do it damn well. The voices of Fortier and Patrick mesh together well, in the grand tradition of some of the top country duos out there; yes you can think Brooks and Dunn here, although generally the styling is different.
Lyrically, Fortier and Patrick do a solid job. You can actually listen to the words and get something of a story. Much of today's country has boiled down to a catch phrase and a guitar riff. I particularly like Hard Road, Drinking You In, Smoke Ring, My Lullaby, Dance Me, and This Town (which is arguably the most memorable song here).
While the CD mixes slow numbers and up tempo cuts, Wyatt is strongest on the slow cuts, where their vocals can be fully appreciated,.
Most of these songs could see radio play over time. In that regard this CD is super solid, reminding of the Poverty Plainsmen's Gotta Be A Believer.
With Fortier and Patrick on guitars, Shaun Dancey on bass and Bray Hudson on drums, Wyatt is a tight band, who are as good as any country I've reviewed in quite some time. Hailing from Saskatoon, these guys are another Saskatchewan gem."

REVIEWS

where have they been?
author: jennifer higby
All of the tracks on this album have an appeal to both sexes. The balance between the sultry ballads and kicking line dancing music is wonderfully done. The two lead singers have very different voices that compliment each other during the harmonies. This band will succeed on country radio given the chance. Two of my favorites are: Hard Road (about a woman that any man should understand) and This Town (about the town that dries up). If you enjoy the vocalizing style of Montgomery Gentry, then you should really give these men a chance.
