Album Notes

Wynn Christian, singer / guitarist for Spoonful James and now The Wynn Christian Band, has spent the past seven years creating a unique blend of southern music, relying heavily on blues and soul influences to complement original tunes. Those seven years have seen many miles and performances opening for The Allman Brothers Band, Little Feat, Gov't Mule, Buddy Miles, and a rare opportunity to serve as piano-great Johnny Johnson's backing band. These experiences culminated in 2001's Seven Mile Breakdown, produced by Johnny Sandlin, and featuring guest performances by Buddy Miles, Bonnie Bramlett, and the Muscle Shoals Soul Revue Horns.
Upon Spoonful James' split in January 2003, Christian returned to songwriting and performing "acoustic" shows around his hometown of Auburn, Alabama. After several fateful phone calls from long-time friend John Troutman, Wynn gratefully packed up the car (along with Spoonful James drummer Patrick Lunceford) and headed to Troutman's Sashacasa Studio in Austin, Texas, to record a demo. Five days and 10 songs later, a new album emerged featuring 6 Christian originals, 3 Alabama/Texas- tinged covers (J.J. Cale and the late Arthur Alexander and Eddie Hinton), and a collaboration on Troutman's own "Road Signs."
Healed Tonight was released in February 5, 2004, coincidentally the same day of an opening date
for long-time inspiration Taj Mahal.

This album is good. It could also be a good country crossover ablum. My favorite songs are Single Pleasures, Right Down Here and Road Signs.
