Album Notes

Cassendre Xavier is a prolific and gifted American songwriter. Her songs span the range of the pop genre from folk to blues to rock. Xavier's studio albums showcase her rich, sweet singing voice and inspired, impressive guitar picking, plucking, or strumming. Live recordings boast a particular gift for entertaining audiences with jokes and witty banter.

"The Whittenberg Sessions" is named after its recording engineer, Rodney Whittenberg, a Philadelphia-based Emmy Award-winning film score composer and founder of the MelodyVision organization.

Cassendre has also released guided meditation spoken word CDs and downloads under her self-assigned soul-name Amethyste Rah. These recordings featuring the beautiful, angelic music of Thaddeus (used with permission), and are currently available at www.lulu.com (Look for them at CDbaby in mid-Autumn 2007).

I discovered Cassendre when she was playing in Philadelphia's Suburban Station (subway). Her powerful clear voice led myself and many others to take home several of her self-released recordings. The Whittenberg Sessions, her first, contains examples of her strong songwriting skill and talent. I liked all the songs, and found "Happy to Be Alive" particularly uplifting. The Nina Simone cover is very impressive.

Your voice and songs are amazing! You should come to Swarthmore College to perform at the "Olde Club". Best of luck with everything!
