A hypnotic analgesic that so draws you into its torrent of papercut Weltsmerz with its wry humor, effortlessly fine musicianship, and invisibly intrusive technical adeptness that you hardly know you're sharing their howl of outrage until its too late - too delicious.

Much as I liked it immediately, I enjoy C of S more each time I hear it. The 'found sounds', initially a bit quirky, soon become integral to the wide ranging and skillful instrumentations. And listen to the words; that wry British humor takes a little work, but it's well worth it.

There's nothing silent about the mesmerizing mix of moods found on xj5000's Cone of Silence. While one wouldn't exactly say that it charts a course from the sublime to the ridiculous, one can dip in at any point and find, especially on repeated listening, poignant, yet often heady, alternately blasphemous yet omniscient points of view - brought to you by sterling musicans with a sensitive aversion to the kind of studio overproduction and pretension that often belabors works of lesser genius. Indeed, a kind of British music for our times, yet sweetly redolent of something we once knew long ago. Girl from Hiroshima a fine example of how deftly xj5000 walks the line between tongue in cheek and abject terror. While I don't know much about the band, I would guess that not much phases them - very grounded, not too jaded, taking not too much for granted. Perhaps they answer to a lesser god? I don't know, works for me.

Harmonic melodies and rythmic soul

These songs have their roots in many influences from the rich back catalogue of music from the past 25 years, and these can be clearly heard in the almost classic style of Time to Sleep, and yet this band of musicians has not reilied on derivative hooks but has blended old and new to make a very eclectic melodic and rhythmic album. I look forward to further output.
