Xpendable is a Christian band from Bluffton Ohio. The band plays a style of music that is known as Frunk which is a mixture of Funk, Rock and Rap music. The band first gained attention when they won 2 Christian Battle of the Bands in 2009. The first was in York Haven, Pennsylvania and the second in Toledo, Ohio. They have since played numerous shows and festivals in Ohio and Indiana.
OUR STORY
Back in 2002, God started the Xpendable story with Courtnee and Gideon (lead singer and drummer respectively).
By God's grace, Courtnee and Gideon met a wonderful and talented Christian woman named Ellen Sheldon. Ellen was their choir teacher in High School and would eventualy be traveling to different churches to play music for Courtnee and Gideon, while they sang to congregations. Ellen helped build their vocal abilities while encouraging them both to write their own music.
They both slowly started to learn how to write but later that year Courtnee and Gideon left for college and singing at churches came to an end.
For the next four years, Courtnee and Gideon continued to write and hang out on occasional weekends but it wasn't until 2006 when the band took its first shape.
Courtnee rounded up some friends from college which included Jeremy, Josh and Annie (Courtnee and Gideon completed the band). This was a great start but God would soon change band members. A couple months went by and the band was back to the two founding members.
Not long thereafter, Gideon invited a Staples co-worker (Scott) to join and play bass. Courtnee too eventually invited a co-worker (Paul) to join the band and play horns and keys. Amanda (a friend of both Courtnee and Gideon) would jump on board later and David would round out the order by coming on and playing electric guitar. This became the band known today as Xpendable.
God has been doing some great things with Xpendable including winning a couple BOTB, recording 3 radio singles, opening doors for a lot of great shows and meeting great people.
MEANING OF OUR NAME
It's a reminder that we are all expendable without God. But with God, we have meaning and purpose.
OUR PURPOSE & INSPIRATION
Xpendable exists to promote the Word of God, bring Glory to Jesus Christ and to share our faith through music.
We are a Christian Band meaning that all 6 of us have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. This also means that our lyrics are almost always directly inspired by God. We wouldn't be doing what we do if God hadn't put us together. We give all praise and glory to Him.
