Album Notes

Xplicit is “Alive & Kickin” Hardcore hip-hop artist Xplicit is kicking down listeners’ doors with his edgy new single “Alive & Kickin” from his latest album “Ghetto Star.” Xplicit’s music is marked by beats and melodies that entwine into unique hook formations, pulling the listener in with addictive grooves and Xplicit’s own brand of lyrical confrontation and verbal delivery. “Alive & Kickin” gives the listener a compelling example of the kind of hip-hop talent on tap in the form of Xplicit. Alluring keyboard melodies and skillfully mixed beats back up the energetic rap attack brought on by Xplicit. For the chorus, he switches to sung melodies and a change-up in sampling to vary things up, demonstrating the kind of hip-hop dynamics that arise from Xplicit’s musical prowess. “This song is powerful in mood, feeling and meaning,” Xplicit explains. “It goes back to my ruthless non-stop brutal style of rapping – fast-paced and uncensored.” Xplicit began rapping when he was still in high school. He spent much time all over Southern California – typically in poor, urban regions. He picked up guitar, drumming, keyboard and bass – all skills he started learning as young as 12. From there, he evolved to rapping, “because that’s what I was brought up around for the most part.” His rap career proper commenced with his participation in the hip-hop group Konspiracy, of which his cousin was also a member. Demos and singles followed, along with live shows, earning the group a following. 2005 saw the release of Konspiracy’s debut full-length, “The American Nightmare.” Xplicit’s solo career kicked off shortly thereafter. “Ghetto Star” is his third solo album, written and produced entirely by Xplicit. Previous albums were “Uncensored” and “Parental Advisory.” A mini-tour throughout Southern California is slated to commence in June. Xplicit is currently working with A&R Select, the world’s leading independent artist development firm, based out of Los Angeles, CA.
