A whimsical song, with lyrics which would not be out of place in Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland". The music phrasing is reminiscent of classic vocal jazz ala (I don't stand a) Ghost of a Chance, with interesting interplay amongst the instruments.

Album Notes

Lyrically, I tend to write about social issues, though cosmology seems to creep into it as well. Jungle Rain was a deliberate departure from the well-formed ideas I usually write about to a stream of consciousness with ideas that seem to be related but you are not quite sure how. Two classic songs that I think use this technique well are Dylan's My Back Pages and Beatles' I Am the Walrus.

Musically, it is largely acoustic, with a nylon-stringed guitar as the centerpiece. The vocal phrasing is reminiscent of some classic vocal jazz, such as (I don't stand a) Ghost of a Chance.

I hope you enjoy it and take the opportunity to listen to my other songs as well.
