Album Notes

In her first full length solo album, Canadian singer-songwriter Yael Wand weaves together a collection of original songs that is refreshing, perceptive, and haunting. Antinomy is the necessity of contradictions, the force that fastens life together and thrusts it apart. The 2004 release was recorded live in a Vancouver church and at SOS Studios and produced by Wand and Sam Ryan (Rae Spoon, Anna Baignoche, Sonic Joy).

Antinomy speaks of the turbulence that life ignites between our personal truths and the stories unfolding around us. Inspired by her travels over the past four years, Wand leads a journey that delves into the hidden crevices of desire and anguish, and then floats over the lush landscape of mountains or mid-eastern deserts. Her vocals are mesmerizing: clear, warm, and honey coated – Wand offers a soft and humble carpet on which to float through 13 passionate tracks. With Wand on guitar and backed by some of Vancouver’s finest musicians.
