Album Notes

Hi. I'm Yavonne Dearth. My C.D, Mystic City is a combination of the old, "Mystic", and the new, "City". The old is the folk music. Once a folk addict, always a folk addict. My song "My Luv is like a Red Red Rose" was featured in the L.A. Production of Shakespear's Richard the Third at the Secret Rose Theatre. Other current credits include First Place Traditional Singing award in the Topanga Banjo Fiddle Contest. Other venues include the Camarillo Celtic Festival, the Mountain Lion Folk Weekend where I performed with Ramblin Jack Elliot and Mike Seeger, and the Celtic Art Center's Christmas, Saughin, St. Patrick's Day shows and Sunday Concert Series. And, I've just been commissioned to write the score for an upcomming production of Shakespear's Macbeth. I perform solo or with the Mystic City band, the artists featured on my CD. For bookings e-mail me at speechmech@aol.com. Snail mail: Yavonne Dearth 11326 Magnolia Blvd. #3. N. Hollywood, Ca. 91601. As for my original music, I've been writing since I picked up a guitar in my school days. My songs range from psychedelic and symbolic to upbeat and quirky. Topics include the drug culture, matters of the heart, and the human condition. Styles are soft rock, folky pop, and ballads. Instruments are two guitars, myself and Howard Yearwood who does some leads and solos, Djembe, drums, percussion and synthesizer by Brad Swanson, and also bauron and tin whistle, traditional Irish instruments, by myself. The McFadyen band plays on two songs with guitar, banjo, and mandolin. I perform all vocals and harmonies except for some by the McFadyens.
I'm like a throwback from the Renaissance mixed with a hippie from the 70s, and my music reflects this. Mystic City is uplifting, Celtic flair, quirky, beatnik, psychedelic, traditional, deep. It is a project to which I have strived to add the eye of perfection. Enjoy.

I was thrilled to discover this CD and after having ordered and heard it ecsatic! Mystic City is a unique blend of folk music and Celtic music and some heart felt pop music. All sung expertly by Yavonne Dearth and performed with great style and passion. Lots of surprises and a nice variety. This is an international winner.
