Mat wrote the Dreamboat songs in the Virgin Islands and recorded them with Trevino Bring Plenty during his annual sabbatical to Portland, Oregon.

Mat and TBP broke into an empty apartment (window left ajar) and recorded the tunes in the empty hardwood floor space. TBP added lovely organs and strings and mixed the whole shebang.

Some of the tunes are breezy and fun:
Dreamboat: "Well I don't know how a girl like you got caught up in my snare. You had love in your eyes and mango juice your hair. A girl like you and a boy like me, weees spread around this town like some wonderful disease ..."

And others a bit foreboding:

Tribal War: "You expect me to say a good god come take us away. But I cannot fulfill your purpose. How would I know? Why would I care? No longer in your service anymore!"

Mat Probasco started Y5k in 1996. Most of the discs are out of print or were privately released. Other Year 5000 albums still in print include Year 5000 Conspires the SpaceDragon (2006) and Secret Album (1999).
