Sam Yelda - My Revelation
author: Mikolaj Furmankiewicz
If you'd like to stroll along the Palace of Versailles, meet Louis XIV himself and feel the fragrance of flowers there, you are spot-on! The ideal atmosphere was ensured by Canadian guitarist, who absolutely can't be accused of cloning neoclassical masters. There are mid-tempos superiority on the album, but I noticed some moments of guitar "galloping". The greatest advantage of "My Revelation" is its diversity. Aside from neoclassicism, here we find progression, shredding, improvised parts, unconventional acoustic interpolations (by guitar and mandolin), references to Gypsy music and classical output of Tarrega and Segovia. Mark DeBlock appears in "The Storm" with his interesting vocal, making me think of the likes of Goran Edman and Rob Rock. Sam Yelda showed himself as a great specialist on staccato technique and a purist, polishing each composition to the smallest detail. I do recommend his album especially to Katsu Ohta's fans.

Strong arrangements, solid production
author: Edward Acorah
This album, compared to other Neo-classical artists I have listened to, has a very polished sound. The songrwiting has obviously involved some serious effort. This CD is not just some bed tracks slapped together with some beligerant shredding. My Revelation has been well composed, well arranged, and well produced. The music and the guitar performance compliment each other nicely. It's clear to me that Sam has put some major effort into every nook and cranny of these tracks. I'm looking forward to his next CD already.
