Album Notes

The YellowHammer’s wistful songs make a u-turn just before reaching melancholy and head in the direction of a search for salvation.
YellowHammers began as a trio in 1996. Since then they have developed their own take on roots rock ‘n roll, accumulating influences from early country blues to wireless pop.

If Johnny Cash joined the Faces after Rod Stewart left you might have an idea of the type of music you can expect upon hearing the YellowHammers. Loose not sloppy, tender not soft, forlorn not pitiful, hopeful. Their songs reveal the musical influence of Neil Young, Led Zeppelin and the Stones; lyric influence of Hank Williams and Lou Reed. With vocals betray the influence of Levon Helm or early Elton John.
The band currently threads their live show with cuts from their three albums using the rich sound of acoustic and electric guitars, bass and drums. Imagine being at the Fillmore watching the Allman Brothers in 1970 and you can guess what music they have listened to.

The Yellowhammers are: Rob Pierce – Guitar, Drums and Vocals, Terry White – Guitar and Vocals, Kevin James – Bass Guitar and Vocals. While, Pierce, White and James have played together all over the country, from LA’s Whiskey-A-Go-Go to NY’s CBGB, The Yellowhammers rely on a host of local musicians to round out Percussion and Lead Guitar.

REVIEWS

Great roots rock and roll with a 60's pop feel.

Yellowhammers at their best. The CD has a great flow to it. I have a couple favorite songs like "10 years" and "Pull you," but after listening to the entire CD, the collection is greater than any indivdual song. I have it in heavy rotation in my car. Well done boys.
