Album Notes

Don't be fooled by Yellow No. 5's 2004 Midwest Entertainment Music Association nomination for Best Country Band. Most who follow the band don't think of Yellow No. 5 as a "country" band. Yellow No. 5 is a band from the Midwest who doesn't try to hide it. Yellow No. 5 takes from the likes of Wilco, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Johnny Cash, and The Old 97's, adds a touch of bluegrass, and the stories of life in the Heartland to create its sound and songs. Based just outside of Kansas City, Yellow No. 5 spends a great deal of its time producing and recording songs in their home studio, but will venture out for shows that mean something, and have played throughout the Midwest. You might also catch them on the Kansas City radio station, 90.1 FM KKFI, or one of many internet radio stations.

Yellow No. 5 is...
Jamie McCannon: banjo, guitar, vocals
Brett McCoy: drums, vocals
Chad Nichol: bass, vocals
David Stropes: vocals, guitar, mandolin
Matthew Stropes: guitar, mandolin, harmonica, vocals

Good Stuff

A great band, a great bunch of guys, and a great Americana sound that will occasionally stagger one way or the other across the line between country and rock. Simply a collection of great songs that one cannot help but enjoy. Recording quality has come a long way from the Stropes brother's early days. Worth every penny of the download. Enjoy!
