Album Notes

Yener’s early years were spent on the picturesque Turkish Aegean/Meditereanean coast, surrounded by a family of musicians and teachers. Blending the roots of his past with the inspiration of his extensive world travel, Yener’s philosophy and style transcend the typical idea of *world* music pertaining to only one place or ethnicity. His music is a borderless combination of fusion/jazz and Mediterranean/Aegean sounds.
In Yener's own words: "Our world, experiencing numerous storms and hurricanes, mother nature(the egrets and doves the oceans and reefs)...these are the elements that are interwoven in my songwriting and music. All of these "teachers" have redirected my life back to music, a life that has been truly a storm of light."
Every instrument & sound is played by a living being, avoiding computer based editing, samples or loops. Perfect imperfections if you will...
"Night Fall in Istanbul" - 2005 Grand Prize winner in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest "world" category.
"Fallen Soldier" - 2006 Winner of Independent Music Awards "Film/TV/Multimedia" category.

REVIEWS

Timeless, organic music
author: Steve Hall from The Questionnaires
If you want a breath of fresh air, just sit back and listen to the world-class playing on this album. It's not fussy, it's not over-produced, it's just one beautiful tune after another expertly played. Best album I heard in 2006.
