"I spent the first five years of my life in Iran, in an exceptional musical environment. And music has been with me ever since, through a diversity of practices, including traditional music of the Middle East and Asia Minor, Jazz, and Flamenco. I have always dreamed of bringing those different musical languages together.
In spring 2000, destiny took me, with my guitar, to Uzbekistan. On the evening of my arrival in Tashkent, I met 4 traditional musicians of my age. The language barrier obliged us to find other common ground and music was the obvious solution. They seemed to be familiar with the flamenco rhythms, and my guitar had no trouble accompanying the singer's vocalizations. Thus, we found ourselves with tangible proof of the existence of a common language, of strong but forgotten bonds between two traditions seven thousand kilometers apart. An experience clearly showing how universal music can be".
