I'm new to Klezmer music. I have heard it once on TV, I think it was a special about it's origin and was hooked. Pretty good stuff!

There is a great new stream of small klezmer groups that play more traditional styles, in large part based on the discovery of older European musicians and the tunes they play, tunes that have been less heard in the US. In “Nakhes fun Klezmer,” Di Bostoner Klezmer brings some of that new body of music to their album, as well as great interpretations of some more familiar tunes. Plus, there are some brand new tunes, including some recorded here for the first time. For such a small band, they put out a lot of sound, and the combination of clarinet, accordion, and trombone works wonderfully. The trombone provides the traditional rhythm that often came from big horns in the old country. The timbre is quite varied, in interesting ways. On some numbers an accordion or melodica comes in, adding some other nice voices. We even hear one hora as a trombone solo. It’s a very spirited album with a well-picked assortment of tunes that flows together nicely. Dobe Ressler’s clarinet is sparkling, and she’s put together a great debut CD.
