'Yiddish Tango' is truly an important recording for it's content of Yiddish Tangos. Except for the selections by Jacob Sandler that were recorded in Israel, and possibly Henri Gerro, these songs were recorded in Argentina. There have been Ashkenazi and Sephardic Jewish communities in Argentina for over 100 years. Many Eastern European Jewish musicians, having performed and learned Tango in Argentina, brought it back to Europe where it thrived, especially in Poland.
Jewish Musicians were largely responsible for introducing the Tango to the Middle East as well. This CD contains tracks by some of the most popular Yiddish artists mostly from Eastern Europe that settled in Argentina. Included in this set are selections by Jacob Sandler. Originally from Rumania, Sandler performed with his own very popular dance orchestra and eventually settled in Israel where he recorded popular Yiddish dance albums that included many Tangos.

The Jewish migration from Europe to Argentina (and back again) forever changed the course of music, fusing the sounds of Yiddish folk and South American Tango.
