Album Notes

Thirty-six years ago who would have dared to imagine an iterant dog wash operator and a failed local sports writer playing music of such a disturbingly high caliber that it didn't exist? No one...and they were right!

Who are the Yolles Brothers? And what is this music, you might ask (even rhetorically)? Well, funny I should mention it, because that reminds me of a famous pose....there, that was it. Anyway:

The Oxword Engrish Dixtionary defines Joe Yolles (guitar, bass, vocals, keyboards) as the guy that for most intents and purposes wrote and directed this music. As a matter of course, the services of the drumming brother Lawrence on drums is cymbalic of the fact that this one -- amongst all the ones -- is in fact this one. Over the last 20 years, Joe & Lawrence have recorded, performed and sometimes even played together up and down the Mississippi River with a canful of musicians with varying degrees of disinterest. We sure think we may have had fun, but the studio work is more satisfying and safer for the motoring public. Additionally, the Yolles Brothers would like the acknowledge the thrust of ProTools mastery of Bruce Burdick, without whose steely resolve and penetrating insight this project may have been.

The tech info: The Yolles Brothers "Let It Breathe", was recorded over the last few years on a ProTools MixPlus system at our home studio in Winnetka, IL (with some tracks recorded on Bruce's PT III and later PT MixPlus systems in Chicago). Musical instruments were used in the making of this album. One would be hard pressed to pigeon hole these songs or their derivation, so we shant. Please visit the LivelyOx.com site and bask in our many previous releases featuring these very Yolles Brothers, as well as other bits of things and synonyms. Then stay tuned for frequent new music, mutterings and manfulness.

In conclusion, if there was ever a time to part with your well-groveled money, THIS IS IT. Buy one today and receive not only the "Let It Breathe" disc itself but also semi-good packaging (and who couldn't do with a bit of semi-good packaging now and again?), including an envelope and postal markings! A bargain and a real life bargain. Prove that you are morbidly obese and win a free glass of water (glass and water not included...).

Juanjoy, my friends!

The whole CD is amazing. Every song is well written. Think Jerry meets Phish for a drink at Mark Knofflers house. I would actually pay money to see these guys live. You need to buy this CD. It's worth it.

I was a big fan of these guys when they were snappin' out funky-ass jams in the mid 1990's as "Brother Theresa", and this format is certainly not a let-down. Honest lyrics, smart dynamics, and skilled execution make this CD more appealing with every listen. This disc has been struggling to get out of my van's CD player, but I keep shoving it back in. The only thing I'd change about this - I can't always hear Joe's voice/lyrics as well as I want to. But otherwise, the production's great.
