Yonat's music is a product of heart and mind: travels, meditations, and most of all relationships. The songwriting is poignant and melodies are catchy. Yonat’s music is informed by her extensive travels.
After spending 6 years in Israel , a year in NYC and traveling and studying in India for a year, Yonat is now living in San Francisco, CA and digging into the scene in the Bay Area. She practices Indian Classical Vocal music under the tutelage of Veena Sahasrabuddhe. This training is evident in her vocal range, power and precision.
She continues to strum away at the guitar and write folk-rock songs.
Yonat experiments with all different styles of songwriting, each piece is like a little window into her world.
Jesse Sheehan is the mastermind behind this album. He took Yonat’s bare bones songs and created layers of depth with rhythm section, lead melodies and electronics. His main instruments are saxophone and tabla. He has a BA in Music Composition from Lewis and Clark College and studies Indian music with Pandit Nayan Ghosh. He also plays guitar, keys, and flute. The album was recorded, engineered, arranged and produced by this multi-talented musician.
Listeners will enjoy the intimacy of the songwriting - each track a strong piece with emotional flavor and full sound.
