Only two thirds of a year have passed, and yet change is still rapidly taking place for You Are A Weapon. Despite holding down full time jobs and attending university, You Are A Weapon has packed over 45 shows into just 8 months (with many more to come), recorded and self-released a concept EP, won a spot on Calgary's Warped Tour, and set out on a self-booked tour that brought them all over much of western Canada. It's safe to say that YAAW has gained the attention and listening ears of fans from coast to coast, exceeding EP presales expectations and sending copies off to everywhere from Newfoundland to Vancouver Island.
Rolling from city to city in a big blue Chevy Astro (lovingly entitled Big Chunky Rhonda), You Are A Weapon is quickly gaining a reputation for tight, passionate live sets, and is sharing the stage with some of Canada's best independent talent. The ride so far has been crazy, and even the band members are shocked at how quickly things have happened.
Despite this, the band is already looking forward, working to better their art, write new music, refine their sound and take it to new people.
We're You Are A Weapon, and were having the time of our lives.
We have had the priviledge of playing alongside bands like: Means, Glory Nights, Kiros, TheSet, Snic, The Bleeding Alarm, Rosesdead, Mapping The Escape, Beija Flor, Born For Battle, Act Fast!, The Riviera Heist, Ghosts of Modern Man, Go Jeff!!!, Maclean, The Fortunate, Living With Lions, Callahan, Familia, Danger Boys, Jay and The Lovebirds, Phao, and many more, including a spot on Calgary's Warped Tour!
"Calgary's You Are A Weapon was the first act I saw, and they clearly have a loyal local following, as their short set was accompanied by more than half the crowd singing along. The five-piece's soaring synths sounded great ... I predict good things for this young group."
