The Young Ones are a 5 piece band from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida with a unique sound and amazing energy live!
Guitarist John O'Neil formed the Young Ones two years ago with a few friends from other local bands. Initial members included vocalist Andy Keeling, guitarist Peter Attard, and drummer Cesar Lavin. Soon after, Cesar's high school friend and ex-Hamerhed bandmate Dean Robaina, was added on bass.
The Young Ones started performing live at local pubs every weekend for friends and a growing number of fans. Gradually the band evolved and started writing their own original material. With a variety of hard rock, commercial rock, heavy metal, ska, alternative & Motown influences, the band developed a unique sound of their own while creating distinct versions of many popular hits.
The band performs at many local British and Irish Pubs including Maguire's Hill 16, Briny Irish Pub, Murphy's Law Irish Pub, Dicey Riley's Irish Pub, Sally O'Brien's Irish Pub, Shakespeare's Pub, and Trafalgar Arms British Pub. They have also played at local charity events including The American Cancer Society's Creative Black Tie Benefit and The Viscayan's New Year's Eve 2000 Party held at historic Viscaya in Miami.
A year and many gigs later... band members set up a home studio to record their originals. In December 1999 their first demo CD was released. Two songs, 'Shy Girl' and 'Hurricane' are currently being showcased during the local spotlight programs on WZTA (94.9 ZETA), WKPX, and WVUM. The CD is quickly approaching the 1000 sales mark through promotion & sales on the band's web site www.young-ones.com and their live performances. At the beginning of this year guitarist Peter Attard was replaced by Dan Ceritelli . Not only has Dan contributed greatly to the band's sound, he has also collaborated in co-writing new original material.
The Young Ones are very excited about the future. Having already performed original sets at several local clubs including Tobacco Road, Churchill's Hideaway, and Power Studios in Miami, The Culture Room and Metal Factory in Ft. Lauderdale, and The Surf Café in Boca Raton, they will be adding more original shows in the months to come. In addition to their live performances they are hard at work on their next full-length CD to be released later this year.
