Album Notes

In their new genre-bending cd "Why Not Now?" Janet & Narayan Baltzo draw on a unique blend of New Age, R&B, gospel, jazz and Sanskrit chant influences to create an uplifting and joyous experience for listeners. In addition to Janet's work on keyboards, B-3 and vocals, and Narayan’s performance on fleugelhorn, trumpet, percussion and vocals, the CD features Don King and Jeff Johnson on bass, and Chris Leighton on drums.

With its memorable melodies and lyrics, "Why Not Now?" is purposely designed to fill a need: “There’s lots of great ambient music and lots of wonderful chants out there, but there’s a void of songs for people who are on a spiritual path,” explains Janet. “This CD is for people trying to be in the world yet remain connected to soul.” Adds Narayan, “We’re all connected. We’re opening ourselves as a channel to help uplift our collective consciousness.”

You’re Loved was born when Janet and Narayan played together in a local Seattle band, where the two of them would improvise together between sets. One of the couples earliest collaborations was performing with Alan White (Yes), Roger Fischer (Heart) and Spencer Davis. Both had already garnered extensive professional experience. Janet began playing professionally in the ninth grade, and went on to tour and record with such artists as Albert Collins, Merrilee Rush and Randy Bachman and New Age musicians David Lanz and Paul Speer. She also was the host on Rock TV, a Spokane TV show, and wrote and starred in a Grammy-winning music video for Pinnacle Productions. Narayan also began showcasing his talents in high school, performing lead trumpet in numerous jazz bands. He toured internationally with the Harry James Big Band and was a regularly-showcased performer on cruise ships. He also worked as a soloist for a variety of world music, jazz, and R&B bands. When the two combined their richly diverse musical backgrounds with their shared commitment to spiritual growth, the positive, high-vibration tracks that comprise "Why Not Now?" were the result.
