Young People for Christ Association ("YPC") was created in 1995 as an organization designed to improve the talents of young gospel musicians and their youth gospel choirs in Northeast. The association's founder, Donald LaRoche, wanted to create an environment where these young talented people could come together and learn from some of the finest musicians and choir directors in the gospel music world, like Pr. Butch Heyward of the Institutional Church of God in Christ in Brooklyn, NY.

Thomas Hammond, renowned keyboardist from Portland, OR. and Melvin Crispell, the music director for "James Hall and Worship and Praise." Ultimately, YPC would take what they learned from these anointed men and present their first project "Pressing Toward the Mark" a live recording in Washington D.C. The selections on this album come in two different languages and various composers such as Pr. Butch Heyward, who has written over 300 gospel songs and young people within YPC.
