Yukihide "TAKI" Takiyama (also aka YT) is a bass player / guitarist / composer currently lives in Los Angeles, California. TAKI has worked with numbers of top musicians for years. He shared stage with Herbie Hakock, Bonnie Raitt, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Mary Turner Rattiz to name a few. "He comes highly recommended by musicians who's opinions I respect in such matters." TAKI was born in 1973, in a little town just outside of Osaka, Japan. He started playing classical violin at the age of three. As a teenager, he was fascinated by electric guitar and started playing it in the band for several years.
In 1992, at the age of 18, he left Japan to attend school in the United States at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. He studied Music Arrangement, Orchestration, and went on graduate with a major in Commercial Arranging with Cum Laude. Toward the end of stay in Massachusetts, he also began teaching himself to play the bass guitar and was immediately drawn to it.
TAKI then moved to Los Angeles, California in late 1997. His powerful performance and music style caught people's ears, and he started forming music connections and building his career as a working musician. He joined the band of Deena Noroian (Unruly Helga Productions) in 1999. They opened up for PAT BENATAR TOUR in 2000, performed at major festivals, awards, and clubs. TAKI also cowrote some songs for her album "No Alternative". At the same time, TAKI joined another band called KOKOPELLI, founded by Scott Baldyga, a keyboardist played with Ziggy Marley, and Bruce Zelesnik, former tour member for THE POLICE. Around 2000, TAKI became a member of Atlantic Recording group, the Boxing Gandhis. The Boxing Gandhis released two albums from Atlantic Records. TAKI made some TV appearances, performed and shared stage with big names at Awards, and also toured in U.S. with the band.
In Addition, TAKI formed his own rhythm band, F.O.R.M (2000-2003). Released two albums. Some of their songs were used as theme for TV show. Also featured as a soundtrack for a independent film "NEVERLAND" (2003: by award-winning director Danion Dietz)
Now, TAKI keeps himself busy with session works and gigs in styles of standard jazz, rock, country, Irish, boys band, gospel. He goes over and above the call of duty, and never disappoint the client's expectations what they want to hear.
TAKI has just finished his own solo album entitled "Three Sides of my Ego".
