Robin Yukiko is an American singer-songwriter with a versatile soprano voice and piano style. Her music is just like her: quirky, complex, and bold--and unpredictable. Drawing inspiration from any source she can find, she writes about the human mind and heart, war, time and space.
Growing up in Orlando, Florida, Robin notoriously began her singing "career" at the age of three and started writing songs at 14 with the aid of her father, a professional musician, who taught her music theory and piano.
"Every day my dad would pick me up from school and start drilling me on rhythms and intervals. It was our best bonding time. And to top it off, I was able to skip three years of ear training classes."
She has performed as an opera singer, a jazz singer, and a rock musician in venues from coffee shops to Carnegie Hall (1996). At 18, she released her first album “Me and My Apathy”, and has continued to develop her songwriting and performing skills both with a band and solo. After graduating from Berklee College of Music in 2006, Robin moved to Japan to discover her ancestry and tap into the music scene.
In 2007, Robin received Honourable Mention for her stride piano pop song, "Fool Who Left", in the We Are Listening Singer/Songwriter Awards. That same year, Robin represented her country at the International Counter Match of the World Figure Skating Championships (USA vs. Japan) by singing the Star Spangled Banner alongside pop singer Ayaka Hirahara, who represented Japan. Sponsored by Nichion, Inc, the national anthem was broadcast throughout Japan on TBS.
Having lived in Japan for 2.5 years, Robin has returned to the United States and is currently in L.A. recording her second album, "Love War".
Robin Yukiko is a supporter of marriage equality, spaying and neutering of pets, and awareness of mental disabilities.

Waiting for her 2nd CD
author: Bud Leiser
I can't wait for Robin to release another CD. I have heard some of her newer stuff via her myspace and love it.
All That I Could Want is amazing. It should have been placed first in the track order so anyone listening to the CD would instantly be spellbound.

Me and My Apathy is one of the best original recordings I've heard in a long, long time. As a jazz vocalist myself, I tend to be overly critical when it comes to the sound of the female singing voice. Robin's music and Robin's voice are goldmines waiting to be discovered. My favorite song, in particular, is All That I Could Want. W.O.W.... and do you know what W.O.W. stands for? With Out Words. That's how I felt the first time that beautiful tone, melody and voice entered my ears. Me and My Apathy is a dynamite piece of work. Cheers to Robin Yukiko for her originality, creativity and for being blessed with an angel's voice.

I'm in love with this music

The CD arrived just the other day and I had only time to listen to it once by now, but that was enough to convince me that I have found a real treasure. Robin's voice is crystal clear and it reaches the highest pitch without any efforts. When I got to the last song this morning right before work I was just petrified in awe and I simply couldn't get up to reach my tram in time. This beautiful voice had tied me to my chair. I am so glad that I have found this wonderful artist here on CD baby.
