Album Notes

The Russian borne composer of this music has two musicals to his credit, "Theatre of Neuron and Seneca Times", and the "Maltese Cat" that were produced in Russia. He also has scored a children’s theatrical play "Very Smart Toys" and many television shows, including several for New York's WMNB. The lyricist/librettist is a West-Coast Music Award nominee with five locally-produced musicals to his credit, including "Beautiful", and the critically-acclaimed "Beyond the Meadow".
Master and Margarita is the story of a young woman in economically depressed Moscow whose lover is confined to an asylum. Her unhappy existence is shaken up when Voland, a professor of black magic arrives in town and decides he has a use for her. Overnight, Margarita is transformed into a worthy consort for Voland; she does his bidding, but in return she is rewarded with the release of her lover and they are happily reunited.
The CD contains five songs: "Fresh from the Fire," as Voland prepares to invite damned souls to a celebration with Margarita; "The Yellow Flowers," telling how Master met his lover, Margarita; "So Much Work Ahead of Us," as Voland and his minions plot their big night; "Words Upon the Page," Margarita's ode to her lover's skills; and "What Can I Give You," where he offers Margarita her choice of reward.
