Evette 'Jus E' Cornish was born and raised in Houston, Texas. After battling bullying and self-esteem issues Jus E began to write poetry as a way to cope. As her love for hip hop music grew she began to turn her poems into lyrics. By the age of 12 she was scheduled to sign with a local record label. However, she decided to take a break from writing music and the music buisness after feeling disappointed and deceived. The first in her family to obtain a college degree Jus E soon recognized the importance of education. She received a Masters degree in Counseling in 2007 and is currently working on a PhD also in Counseling. Although Jus E found her niche in helping others, the passion she had for hip hop music never died. Jus E soon realized that she could reach a larger audience and have a greater impact by combining the healing arts with the art of hip hop. In 2010 she began working on the anti-bully campaign after learning about the many youth suicides
taking place around the nation. With the inspiration from her experiences and the stories of others, Jus E sat down and wrote 'Stand Up'. This song quickly gained local recognition and the video included family and friends of Asher Brown, a 13 year old student who shot himself after enduring severe bullying. Since then Jus E has been traveling to local schools providing presentations and performances on bullying for all ages. As an artist, Jus E is mainly focused on addressing cultural issues and spreading positive messages through her hip hop lyrics.
