Album Notes

OCHO had these 2 new songs I wanted to record -Himalaya and Japan. We were in the midst of on again off again recording sessions in Trenton NJ (see CHOOCHOO) but I wanted to try something different, control the production a bit more. Jesse had just joined the band and had all his portable recording gear. So we set it up in our rehearsal space at Flood Studios in Brooklyn on a Saturday and built some isolation for the amps. The first 2 songs went by really fast so we just kept tracking and ended up with 11. All of which we kept and are on this album. We did a lot of overdubbing and messing about over at Jesse and Yonat’s apartment. Clive was over from England and played some slide. Jesse arranged the wonderful sax parts. Josh sent me an Italian harp. The songs are about escape and pursuit, betrayal and forgiveness, apathy and love among other things.

Our friend Buster Black had been doing his projecto paintings which I liked very much so I asked him to do the cover and gave him some concepts. A parachutist- a bull-rider and the roman aqueducts as I recall... He went with the bull-rider. It took him about 6 months to complete to his satisfaction and another 6 for me to scan it properly. But I love having the painting hanging on my wall.
