Zayra is really doing something different here on this CD. First off: I loved the packaging, really, I sell cd's with shit cases, and stickers... Sometimes, I just write on them with marker, but Zayra must have struck a deal with the devil on this disc because the artwork, photography, and overall presentation of the CD is really high-end and appealing. The music is extremely suiting to the performance and lyrics, and I just really enjoyed the sound quality and stories. Plus, Zayra's hot. Songs that stood out were the villanelle "Sleep in the sea tonight with me", and "the sun is just a star", and "We are stained with salt" at least for me, and I'm a dandy, I'm a real Huckleberry.

author: Rob Ganson, author of Float Like a Butterfly, Sing Like a Tree

Hearing her voice express these gems adds another level of understanding, and the nusic is so well chosen, performed, and mixed, that one wonders that music and spoken word are not more often wed. Her "Our passions may be numbered like this use image and metaphor to make me wonder if my blood, my heart, may not be inextrictably bound to the sea.
In "Gathering light in a bottle," she wraps us in layers of metaphysical gause, a symbiosis of spirit and earth, and in that perfect last stanza, gave birth to the title for a must-read volume of poetry, "Empty as Nirvana." "speak to me of flowers illustrates why I, myself, never write very short poetry, I could never do it like this. Yes, this collection is a sensual exploration of love, but also so much more. One may find themselves with visions of Tibetan prayer flags, or Gods, dancing 'round maypoles, or dream of angels, and stars, mating over a beach, where the sighs of the ocean wash over twining feet.
