Album Notes

This is an album of what I call, \"Accordion Classics\". It represents the style of accordion playing that made it so popular in the early to mid 1900\'s.

However, the music you will hear was made possible with crystal-clear, 21st century state-of-the-art recording.

This album is dedicated to my teacher, Mr. Charles Nunzio, who was a principal student of Pietro Frosini, and is known in his own right as a great performer and instructor of the accordion. His musical genius is evident in his compositions and arrangements, some of which appear on this CD. Mr. Nunzio’s assistance in the execution of these musical selections was immeasurable.

\"In my many years as a musician I’ve heard countless accordionists. Most of these players were quite technically proficient. Many of these artists were primarily concerned with “playing the piece”.
Zevy Zions “plays the piece” and has amazing technique. What sets him apart and above most accordionists is his musicianship. He interprets the music; is subtle and gets to the essence of the selection.
The repertoire of this CD runs the gamut from light pieces such as “Coquette” and “Olive Blossoms” to the substantial “Vivo” which was written by the illustrious accordionist-arranger John Gart. Zions’ “Klezmer Suite” evokes all kinds of images and emotions. It’s magnificent.
This CD exposes an essential selection of Accordion music, played by a great artist.\"

A Revelation!

I had the privilege of knowing Zevy eons ago when we were high school classmates. As a budding young musician he always kept us entertained, but his earnest pursuit of musical excellence kept him up into the wee hours honing his craft. We recently met after so many years out of touch and Zevy, graciously, sent me a copy of the CD "for old times sake." Needless to say, I was blown away. How gratifying to witness an individual sowing the seeds of youthful promise and "blossoming" into a truly world class talent. Zevy, thanks for the music and the memories.

CAN'T WAIT to drive again!!!

I've been listening while driving. I've only had this CD for a couple of days and haven't driven very far, so I'm only up to the middle of track 10 (Klezmer Suite), but I can already say that this is such an outstanding and ambitious project that Zevy took on that I've been really wanting to go drive out of my way so I can finish listening! My Dad (Irving Gross) was also superb accordionist, so I can say with authority that this CD features an exceptionally talented musician who not only is technically proficient but also is a true artist. It is obvious that Zevy loves his craft. I can't wait to hear La Cunparsita, Lady Of Spain and Carnival Of Venice!
