Album Notes

Feed Our Heads was written and recorded over a period of almost two years, if you include the seeds of a few songs that were written as far back as May of 2006, it's been in the making for close to four.

The album's title (and back cover graphic) comes from the lyrics of the second track "Fine Reds"---"Feed our heads, up our meds, bring us fine reds..."--- that eludes to our writing process which involves the consumption of some excellent red wine hand picked by our very own sommelier/bassist Rick Wolfe.

We estimate a few hundred bottles contributed greatly to the writing, and in some cases possibly prolonged recording. Besides the fine wine, the rest of the lyrics are open to your interpretation and imagination.

The album was recorded, mixed and mastered at our own studio, like the others, but with some equipment upgrades and experience gained from the first two efforts, we believe the sound quality is superior and rivals the best commercially produced CDs made on the kind of equipment we can only dream of having someday.

It was mixed and mastered primarily on Mackie HR824mk2 monitors and sub woofer, with the old standard Yamaha NS10s for comparison, and checked on Sony MDR7509HD headphones for digital distortion, pops and clicks. For final mastering tweaks we listened on everything we had from Klipsch Cornwalls and Klipschorns cranked up to just below plaster detachment level, and on bad $20 pc speakers.

For the best listening experience we recommend:

1. You buy the CD (for the best sound quality).
2. Buy a nice bottle or two of a quality red, or white, wine priced for at least as much as the CD.
3. Open the bottle and let it breath while you turn on your stereo (hopefully something that cost more than a case of wine. But it sounds good on anything).
4. Attempt to get the damn cellophane off the CD without ripping the Digipak case.
5. Insert the CD in your player and turn it up as loud as your family or neighbors will allow without damaging your hearing like most of us did in the '80s.
6. Pour a half of a glass, swirl, breath it in, take a small taste and swish it around while admiring the cool artwork on the CD.
7. Write us about it and tell all your friends how friggin cool Zip Tang is!
