Alonzo “ZO da DOSE” Flemming was born October 14,1986 into a family of five. “Being the only boy amongst three siblings I had to learn the art of responsibility early on and be that example I knew I would be in the future to come.” Driven by circumstances of great magnitude like, loosing of mother at 9 years old and his father in summer of 2010, he was determined to revolutionize his family’s patterns of misfortune. He knew he had to work hard to change the inevitable.
Writing poetry became poetry became ne of his greatest past times, in which would soon progress into something more potent. After winning “honorable mention” in a national poetry contest at the age of 16, he was inspired to hone his skills and craft as a writer. “I wanted to elevate my skills and take it to another level so I begin writing songs which challenged my writing skills and help me expand my realm of creativeness, and at that point I found a new love and respect craft.” Driven by this new found love, Zo da Dose began recording music and soon he would establish himself as a artist of great notoriety. With the world finally beginning to recognize him as a humble and respectable artist, and with the mixtape “THE TAKEOVER” set to be released September 2010 he was ready to takeover but he wasn’t ready for what would take place next.
After loosing his dear and beloved mother Darlene Flemming at the tender age of 9 to a collaborative of illnesses, on April 12, 2010 his father Charles Taylor would loose his short- live battle with colon cancer.”He was my everything, he was a core components of my motivation, he is the reason I am who I am today. Because through his teachings I learned so much but what stuck with me throughout his teachings was respect, pride, hard work, and never give up no matter what, fight till the end because that was the summary of legacy.” Devastated but destined to transcend beyond tragedy, Zo da DOSE drive was fueled and replenished with hope. With the growing support from family, friends and peers he was beginning to realize how much of a great influence his artistry had become.
With the mixtape “THE TAKEOVER” creating such a stir of anticipation and set to hit the streets and digital world September 30, 2010, he was ready to be called upon, he felt lie his time has finally come, he was ready to takeover.
