Album Notes

"excellent. a new star is born.'

An excellent record by Zoe Scott. This London girl's much talked about debut wholly lives up to its expectations! She is a singer-songwriter with a fresh voice and psychedelic grooves that revive that great tradition of rock'n roll where songs move your heart, your conscience and your feet! Zoe is poised to be the break-through artist of 2006!

Biography:
Born and raised in London, Zoe's musical journey began on the mountains of Spain - where she sat for five months in an isolated mountain house listening to the song-writers of the 1960's. Moved by the purity and passion of the music and lyrics, the poetess and film student knew she needed to move to California to fulfill her destiny and make the music she was born to create.

Soon after she arrived in Los Angeles, Zoe headed to the Mojave desert -where she lived in a cave for two months on a "vision quest" to craft the lyrics for her first album. Back in Los Angeles she lived for a brief period in a van at the bottom of Laurel Canyon, then began cutting demos.

Producer Ken Allardyce helmed her debut album, "Beautiful to be Alive,"which featured a guest appearance by Johnn Rzeznik, lead singer of the GooGoo Dolls.

Zoe is a unique artist who has lived and performed all over the world, including Rome, London, New York, Spain, Los Angeles and India. She is a real artist in the true sense of the word, who prefers to look at the world through spiritual eyes. She writes from a sense of joy, beauty and hope -and she credits this purity of emotion and creativity to her parents, painters in London.

The desert, the native Indian way and her own journey of the soul are the muses of her work. She is an original. And no doubt someday another young songwriter will be sitting on a mountain in a remote part of the world, listening to Zoe's music and will be inspired to follow her path.

Absolutely Incredible - Loved Every Song
author: David Flack
Zoe's music is reminiscent of the best of Pink Floyd, Rush, the Beatles, Moody Blues, and other classic artists, but with a fresh sound fitting this new decade. The songs are rich in melody and meaning. The closest I've heard to her, in Ontario, is Scott Merritt. The journey she went through for her inspiration sure worked.

I won't be long, this album is excellent and reminds me my enthusiasm when I was listening to good soft rock from the early 70's... My favorite song is : WAITING FOR THE SUN, there are great songs on this CD, among them Planet Love that is a potential HIT... So ZOE SCOTT rocks,... and it is beautiful to be alive listening to her :)) Thanks for this amazing rocking woman whose record reached France. A MUST.....

very uplifting, a great CD worth buying and jamming out to!

My Review on "Beautiful to be Alive"-By Zoe Scott First off, I REALLY enjoy this kind of music: original yet has the makings of past rock masterpieces. It's calming music, and all the songs have a good beat established in them. I like the psychedelic essence in the songs as well, as I said before it adds to the originality, and it spices up the CD overall. It doesn't hurt that Zoe has a good voice, which is voiced best vocally in the song "Waiting for the Sun." In some of the songs, however, there were a sort of "introductions" that I could've done without..I really dislike talking in songs, as I know many others that do as well...but, after those parts, it usually picks up the the songs I enjoy from Zoe. I enjoyed the overall feeling of goodness of the songs in this CD, but every once in a while, I noticed that mayn lyrics were....used too many times...I believe(just an estimate) that in "Planet Love" -which is coincidentally my second favorite song on the CD- repeats the same 2 words over and over again..(Planet Love) and I dont have a problem with that, because it almost fit well in the song, but I feel it took away from the quality of the song...And every once in a while I heard a cheesy lyric, and I am wondering whymany of the songs have the word "cosmic" in them...I really have no problem with it, I'm just wondering if it's like a recurring theme or something... Finally, the instruments(guitars, special effects, etc.) and how they were used in this CD: I love the background music and I believe it is practically genius and helps define this CD and how it backs up the lyrics in the songs!! Overal review: -Great tunes, enjoyable..but maybe with the same lyrics played over in a few songs I'm afriad that I might possibly grow tire of them -I didn't like the whispering in the songs/talking in the songs..it was kind've a turn-off for my musical ear..not that I mind a story here and there... -I love the beats, and effects, and all the vocals, guitars, etc. Best part pf the CD!! Final Grade: A- I definitely recommend this CD if you like: Alanis Morissette,The Cranberries, Goo Goo Dolls, and any kind of somewhat soft rock/psychodelic rock...
