Zon Vern Pyles is a synthesist known throughout the industry for programming synthesizer patches for the Minimoog Voyager, Alesis Andromeda, Clavia Nord Lead 3, Nord Modular and several others.
He has scored several films and consulted on the design of new synthesizers.
His 30+ years of experience as a synthesist brings you “Looking Forward” – an instrumental solo album of synthesizer music that showcases how beautiful synthesizers can sound.
Not strictly relying upon drum machines, the rhythmic elements of “Looking Forward” hearken back to the days when Tangerine Dream-like sequencer patterns were layered upon one another to create a mandala for the ears.
Melody is not forgotten here – as the layered sequences create a beautiful landscape of mood for the melody to explore – and become even more memorable.
Taking the Vangelis approach, several of these tracks were played live in the studio – as Zon controlled and played several synthesizers simultaneously to leave room for improvisation – while allowing the Muse to strike at any moment.
This is synthesizer music at its finest.
Like one listener commented, ‘I didn’t know synthesizers could sound like that.’
Enjoy the journey that “Looking Forward” takes you on!

Excellent Sound...

..and excellent composing work meet on this album made by one of my preferred synthesizer programmers (Moog Voyager, Nord Lead, Nord Modular etc.). For all who love the music of Tangerine Dream (Exit, Logos, Thief, Hyerborea), just to find a relation, this CD is highly recommended, but also for all the people who like emotional electronic music.

ZVP has an excellent sense of just what to do to keep things interesting and your attention fixed. The musical style is varied and full of life. A nice break from the conventional.
