ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Zooparty is the new band for long-time Swedish punk fixture Erik Pettersson (Ewing Oi, Kvinnan) and long-time collaborators Per "Hård-Per" Karlsson (Att Mörda En Överordnad, Everlone) and Ove "Bumba" Hejdeborn (Zeb & The Fast Ones, Mudslide). The band originated in 2005 out of an offer to release a compilation of songs from Erik's previous bands. To augment the release he got together the band to record a handful of new tracks. However, things went so well that they decided to just keep going with it. New material kept coming, and after recording and releasing the 3-song "Smile" EP, they hunkered down and crafted a full-length featuring 11 new songs, moving in a more punk direction compared with the pop-punk sound of their first recordings. The album has a undeniable Professionals-sounding quality in its mid-tempo, melodic approach to punk, but there's also a good dose of the Sex Pistols & the Damned (perhaps no coincidence as Brian James & Glen Matlock both contribute guitar-playing and production work to the album). Zooparty still have one foot in the pop-punk waters, but now combined with a tad more aggressiveness & bite, their debut album makes for a undeniably great, catchy, addictive 30 minutes.
