Allison Zopel was born and raised in northern Wisconsin to a deeply musical family. Along with her three siblings, she became fluent in an impressive range of instruments, soon growing an evolving love for the piano. By the age of 17, Allison had begun composing her first original songs on the piano.
At the age of 20, Allison was involved in a serious car accident which resulted in severe brain injuries and soon after, a coma. It was during the next 5 years she spent coming out of a coma that 12 of the 14 songs on "Music from Within" were composed.
"The music that comes through me is an expression of my soul," says Allison. "And the simplicity of the music, I hope and feel will give people the time and space that we all need in order to slow down, and let what's inside of us truly emerge."
Allison has been inspired by many great musicians through her life-time, some of those who have inspired the music on this album are: George Winston, Jim Brickman, David Lantz, Michelle Tumes, and Sarah McLachlan.

In these simple songs Allison Zopel takes small steps on a piano to mark out a very big and serene landscape of sound. I have been so tuned up by agressive so-called alternitive commercial music it took driving up the Oregon Coast with it playing over and over again for me to get it. Now it stays in my car...for that point where I've driven out of the city world into a world nature still owns.

Proof that God Exists

Allison's solo piano contains emotion of both sadness and joy. When I listen to it I feel relaxed and it's like evidence of God's existence. Highly recommended!
