Sounds Like:
An indie rock clusterfuck of bluesy-art rock and Beatle-pop w/ theatrical harmonies and dashes of bluegrass
Bio:
The house lights dim. As the curtain parts The Zou appears center stage. From the first chord struck, The Zou does more than entertain - they exude an amiable artsy-ness that is infectious and welcoming
yet uncomfortably heartbreaking. Powerful voices sing of impermanence, decaying relationships, urban alienation and falling in love with loose women.
They harmonize over crackling 60's tube amps, vintage keyboards, upright bass licks, and catchy, primitive drum breaks.
The Zou is classy. The Zou is intelligent, well crafted,
electrifying rock and roll.
With a three man writing team, and three part harmonies, The Zou have an oddly cohesive and unique sound woven through their debut self-titled album. The record features a slew of well written songs from pop anthems
like "Sleazy (love song for the shallow)" to more avant-garde, thought provoking tunes like "How to Build and H-Bomb", "The Boontown Blues" and "Honeygirl".
The crowd is on their feet...
and the show is just beginning.

The only bad thing about The Pinebox EP is that there aren\'t enough songs!!! I applaud The Zou for their amazing and dark sound on this EP.

Phenomenal! Elton John on Crack!

The Pinebox EP catches The Zou at their best. Complex Melodies, Witty Lyrics, and Dramatic Passion. The energy of the band's live performances is well captured in this recording. Excellent songwriting with a powerful delivery. A must for any fan of The Zou and a must for any fan of music!

Buy this now. This EP represents everything I wished the first album was-- that's not to say the last one was bad, but once i heard what they were writing after the last one, I wished I had a copy of it. That's exactly what this is. You can tell the zou has matured. This is a must have.
