Emerging out of LA with a compelling debut EP ZU (now ZUU, see cdbaby.com/zuu for debut LP) delivers anything but a predictable sound.
At once hauntingly dreamy and hard driven the band melds eerie overtones and swirling feedbacks over hypnotic melodies to create psychedelia with edge. With a dynamically explosive live show to back them up ZUU is set out to make a dent in the music world as well as on your mind. The ZU album is available on ITunes and all other major digital download sites. While www.zuumusic.net is under construction please check www.myspace.com/zuu for updated info on the second album due out in early SPRING 2009

-Delusions of Adequacy (D.O.A.)
"This album should start populating radio. It's deep, it's heavy, it's melodic, but it's got creativity. Zuu is pioneering something here by tying all the musical ages together into one product. It's pleasing to the critic and mildly challenging to the public. It's virtually a perfect setup!" -Stephen C.

"Psychedelic trippy music from this Los Angeles based outfit. It's a little left of center but that might just be what the world needs right now"

Old tunes

I love the album but unlike many here I dont hear much new about it except maybe some newer sound not available before, beatles and pink floys did some of this, also some south american musicians have played with this kind of sound, look for "rombos" from Gustavo Cerati (argentina), lisent to "carnaval" from Lucybell (chile).. or some of the old works from La ley, also from chile.... (maybe "la ley" less than the others) you could also go for "abismo" from Illya Kuryaki (argentina)or "cielos" and "verte reir" from Nicole (chile) although Nicole has strong influences from Gustavo Cerati... well, give that a chance and you'll see...

The Mystery solved
author: Ray Venn
I was looking for zydeco music on Rhapsody and thought it was weird that Dr. Jules and the Zydeblues Revue could be so heavy and contemplative... After several weeks of thinking about it I realized Rhapsody had this music mislabeled. While listening to the lyrics and googling them I finally hit a match and realized this music was from the band Zu. So now I'm hooked and am hoping they have a long career. Both Zu albums are really solid and harken back to the days of AOR in a Pink Floyd way. Well worth the listen.
