Album Notes

After receiving licensing interest from ABC Television while recording their new album "Silent Scream of Gulls" Zweng's main songwriting duo of Ryan Zweng and Jonathan Hakakian began delving into the LA music community to expand their sound. Finding guitar ace Nick Annis (Black Light Burns), and drummer Steve Riley (Berklee College of Music) to experiment with, the group began to mesh and grow while producing for TV and independent projects. Now, with the new album releasing the group is set to sound the Silent Scream. Listen for an eclectic yet immediately recognizable style, meshing potent lyrical prowess, with an energetic and ever-accessible groove. Injected with attitude, philosophy and feeling, Zweng's songs paint the landscape of a tempting new horizon. ..

Real Music

Zweng's Silent Scream of Gulls is probably the best Indie album I have heard in a long time. It truly finds a balance between amazing songwriting, beautiful composition, and even comic relief. Ryan Zweng is truely a modern day poet, with lyrics ranging from romantic to strange, including my favorite, Wrollintuduhbowlinallu, a hillarious crunk style hip-hop jam about mobbin' with the posse to the Bowling Ally. In addition to amazing lyrical content, the recording on this album is top notch. You don't hear many indie albums produced with such careful attention to detail. Producer/Engineer, Jonathan Hakakian, is a genius when it comes to capturing an artists sound, energy, and soul. Buy this now, so you can say you were into Zweng before he got huge, because it's only a matter of time.

I Wish This Was MY New Album!
author: Richard Starkey
This is absolutely brilliant fresh s#%t! The hard rock tunes (2 Pens/Further South) LAUNCH the listener into this emerging supergroup's sound!! But by the time you're skanking to Push Love and that hip hop sound with my fave rapper MC Dino hits you up, it's goodnight fu&*%$g Irene!! I didn't make their first shows in LA LA LAND(Hollywood) but I'll KILL to see them next time they play. In the meantime, I take this cd wit me everywhere now and everybody's really diggin' it. I can't believe they didn't allow free listens on The Choke. That song is worth the cost of the cd by itself!! But I did find a GOLDMINE of material on YouTube, including a video of The Choke directed by the famous west coast director Koji Kamamoto. Check that one out to see Zweng in drag!!!!!!

I've listened to further south probably 50 times in the last two weeks. I love the different sonic textures and themes that pop up all over the song in different colors.
