I grew up in Alabama & Virginia playing guitar & writing songs, losing my shoes in creeks, reading every music publication I could scrounge in either one stoplight town, & writing articles about my impending rock stardom.
I went to college in North Carolina and dove into theatre for the chance to sing & because getting naked backstage with a bunch of people seems the most efficient mode of introduction. Besides, they partied more dangerously than the Social Work majors.
I fell completely accidentally on purpose into an experimental lifestyle. My friends back home attributed this change to the distance between my parents and me. I disagreed, insisting that in fact, the change was due to the distance between my parents' church and me.
Dang, it was fun.
I sing & play because I can't help it. I write poetry because I love the orgasmic riot of beating my head against a wall until I feel something give, & then the tense erotic excitement of feeling around to see if it was my head or the wall.
My perverse creative writing persistence has resulted in my
being published in several journals, most recently in Powhatan Review & Blue Collar Review, a progressive literary journal fostering workers' rights. It's too late for them to change their minds, so Ha!

author: Jess AstinI found this late one night and listened. It woke me right up. Her voice is what I noticed first, but her lyrics are great, they are surprising. I thought Patty Griffin wrote good lyrics, you should hear this. You will find yourself singing the songs. If you like Lucinda, you will like Cesca but other than that, I don't know who else Cesca sounds like. That's a very good thing

Rare and unique

author: William CollierMost of the time, I am not a huge fan of female artist. I guess I just can't relate. Not since Liz Phaire's BJ Queen have I been able to identify with a female artist until I heard this CD. It was sent to about 3 months ago and it has yet to lose it's novelty.

I'm not going to bog this down with a replay of the conversation. I will say this, I followed through and bought it. The CD has been on auto repeat for many days now. I hope every one would heed those words, "...you are gonna buy one." The music is great, the lyrics flow and while they flow they move your soul. I hope the industry would not pass her by, she is an artist that is dripping with talent.
raw passion, melodies and stories... this girl can sing!
author: Laura EndicotSweetbriar is a great collection of songs and a promising first EP. It is well-worth many spins on your player. "Islington Road" is raw and passionate and Cesca sings like a medium for the character. "Voice On The Phone" is a driving and emotional song with startling and honest lyrics. "Blood & Wine" -- Wow. This is a very sexy song in a way not often heard. Nothing about it is naive. The guitar work is just great. "Riley" is a story song, a portrait. Again, Cesca shows a strength for characters, melody, and snippets of humor in dark moments. We want more!
